The spin of electrons in their orbit is not nearly so neat as planetary motion. An electron in its shell might be thought of as vaguely similar, but if Earth were an electron, it might be summer now and the dead of winter in a split second and day/night would change almost at random times. Those neat little models in elementary school probably do about as much harm as good in teaching the structure of an atom. That may, however, be overly picky, depending on your target audience.
